Hello Dead Meat Society,
Mother's Day is Sunday. One raised you, oneβs raising your kids. The least you can do is fire up the grill for a mother in your life. Let's see your cook in the Dead Meat Society Facebook group or tag us on Instagram.
Now, hereβs what weβve been cooking up all weekβ¦
First up, AmazingRibs built the full Mother's Day BBQ menu, so you have no excuses. Also, 92 Texas high school BBQ teams were at the pit before 5 a.m., competing for a state title.

Every week, we crown the DMS champion of BBQ. And there are only two ways to enter: 1) Submit a pic to the Dead Meat Society Facebook Group 2) Tag us on Instagram. If you arenβt sharing (and competing), what the hell are you waiting for?
Before we get into crowning our winner, we are raising the stakes!

From here on outβ¦
Our weekly DMS Smokeshow winners will receive a FREE Stars & Stripes DMS T-shirt, PLUSβ¦
Each month, one of the weekly DMS Smokeshow winners (the best of the best) will have $1,000 donated to their local food bank
And it all starts this week. Without further adoβ¦

Cook for Mom
Mother's Day is Sunday, but you knew that already, right? Listen, flowers are great, a dinner reservation is better... but deep down you know the grill is best. And this year, you have no excuses not to use it.
The team at AmazingRibs.com put together the full Mother's Day BBQ playbook. Everything from first light to last bite. And it's worth reading front to back before Sunday morning.
START WITH BREAKFAST
Most people think the grill is a dinner move. But we know it doesn't have to be. Here's what's on the AmazingRibs Motherβs Day morning menu:
Smoked breakfast bread bowls: Crusty rolls hollowed out, filled with candied bacon, egg, and cheese, then smoked on the grill. Imagine the look on her face when you put this effort into starting her day with love.
Smoked salmon omelet: Fresh smoked salmon folded into a French-style omelet. Clean, elegant, and the best option for a foodie mom.
Filet mignon eggs benedict. Smoked reverse-seared filet on a toasted English muffin with a poached egg and hollandaise. If you've been waiting for an occasion to pull this off, this is it.
Wash it all down. Brunch classics like mimosas or a Bloody Mary are a must. Bonus points for a loaded Bloody with something fresh off the grill (bacon and shrimp are a nice touch).
GO BIG FOR DINNER
If breakfast is too ambitious or you want to build to something, the dinner options are the real showstoppers:
Smoked filet mignon with butter-poached lobster: Surf and turf built around a perfectly seared filet and lobster tails finished in butter. Makes you look like the pro you are.
Citrus herb spatchcocked chicken. Backbone removed, bone-side down, slow-roasted on the grill so the dark and white meat cook evenly without drying out. Impressive-looking and reliable.
Grilled asparagus. Get more flavor out of asparagus than boiling or steaming. Itβs a simple side to impress her.
Pairing. You wouldnβt serve surf without the turf, and you shouldnβt serve dinner without her favorite beverage. Donβt forget everything you put her through when you were a teenager, and donβt forget the Motherβs Day cocktails.
THE REAL POINT
Things she did for you:
Brought you into this world
Raised you right (after all, you are part of DMS)
Introduced you to grilled meat
Youβll never be able to pay her back for it all. But a perfectly grilled ribeye, lobster tail, and her favorite glass of red is a good place to start.
Happy Motherβs Day, moms.
BBQ Hot Take of the Week
Last week, we asked: How are rising beef prices changing your cooks this season?
50% of you answered: βGoing all in anywayβ
This week, we want to know:
What are you cooking for mom?
*Check back next week for the results*

Like the memes you send back and forth in your group chat, except these wonβt get you canceled. Oh, and lots more grill marks.
π₯© EGG MEETS BOURBON: Big Green Egg and Atlanta's ASW Distillery made a bourbon finished over live fire. If you own one and aren't insufferable about it at parties, are you even trying?
π₯© NEXT PITMASTERS: 92 Texas high school BBQ teams lit the pit at 5 a.m. Brisket judged by 3 p.m. One champion. Every town in this country has a high school football team. Most don't have a BBQ team. That's a problem worth fixing. Talk to your local school, Dead Meat Society membersβ¦
π₯© SMOKEY BONES GONE: Every location. 27 years, and it ended with a thank-you note and a padlock. Pour one out (or don't). Some people were pleasedβ¦
π₯© RAIN CHECK: Rain in the forecast. Brisket on the pit. Not a discussion π
